-1 Eng. " HAPPY CHILDHOOD"
Early in Spring 1936, in the conference Hall, Rosy, a young slender beautiful girl from Komsomol Committee
met Gregory a handsome tall black-haired boy, supervisor of Industrial department from newspaper “Vitebsk Proletariy”.
They looked each other in the eyes and felt in love instantly.
It was a great love from the very first gaze.
They began to date, to visit dance Halls, /she was very fond of dancing/ and other entertainment institutions.
Soon they got married and started dreaming about first born child.
She was dreaming about a cute long-haired girl and he- about a tall, slender son like him.........
One evening he came back home very troubled. ...
His closest friend was arrested at night.
He went to bed and could not fall asleep.
He had not slept for many nights.
Only three month ago he was the happiest man in the world after getting to know about his wife’s pregnancy.
He triumphed… and could not sleep either.
His wife was not the most beautiful in the world, but she was the wisest as well.
This evening they were trying to be calm.
At this time the huge country was ruled by a band of murderers and ignoramus ,indifferent Tsar-killers,
envious place- hunters and toadies headed by the devil in appearance of a man with pock-marked face and an atrophied right hand.
But with his left hand he ruled away the destinies of millions of people, not only in his country but through the world........
Arrests… Demonstrative processes and executions kept following every day.
One night Gregory told his wife, that he tried to help his friend, the most honest person and the most faithful man to the communist party.
Rosy was calm..........
There was a knock at the door and a cry was heard: “Open!!!!! ” It was an exacting loud voice out the door.
Three men in leather jackets entered the room.
They held firmly the guns in their hands.
Citizen Pikus? One of them asked.
You are arrested. Get dressed and get ready in five minutes.
(Twenty years later parents will tell their son Leonid about this nightmare night under the drum knock of their worn out heart’s…..........................).
Rosy jumped to her husband and screamed. O NO, HE IS NOT GUILTY AT ALL !!!
One of the men pushed her on the floor.
She jumped again trying to approach to her husband.
But other devil’s servant struck her all his might in the stomach.
/To strike a woman in whose womb a new life given by God had been conceived !!!!!!!!! /
Beginning from this moment God turned on reverse reading of time for a young but very cruel Empire of evil, Soviet Union..............................
Only some minutes were left from long parting.
She put some sugar, dried crusts, a pair of socks, clean underclothes in the bag.
That’s it,-the chief started to yell.
Gregory embraced his wife, kissed her and left in summer shoes.............................................................................................................
Some tormenting days passed’
She did not have any news from her husband.
She kept searching for an answer.
KGB demanded from Rosy to provide compromise at her husband.
They were trying zealously to sentence him to prison for committing a political crime /#58/..............
Neither persuasion, nor threat subdued obstinacy of the fragile but manly young lady.
She did not pronounced any word against her husband.
Soon she was summoned to komsomol committee, fired from work and was obliged to vacate their apartment.
Terrible days had come.......................................................................................................................................................
Giving herself to despair she wanted to put an end to her life..............
But some thing or somebody evidently prevented her to do it.
Getting to know that her husband stays at Vitebsk prison, she had provided him with parcels.
The spring of ominous 1937 came, her son wanted to become a citizen of the “Greatest Country”................
On the 27 of April Rosy gave birth to her son.
In some days happy mother took her baby and went with him to prison, hoping they will be able to see him.
Only in two month one of the prison workers who kept for himself a look of man ...
told her that her husband had been sent in exile and she should not bring parcel anymore.
She was the happiest woman only a minute ago.
All her parcels which she was able to gather and save for her dearest husband were gorged by the cruel toadies of a devil.
Time passed. She found a job, an office cleaner at the dining-room.
Her lovely son made his first step.
From his birth he has a mark: a son of the bitterest enemy of people.
Terrible 1941 had come, before the country had time to recover.
The Germans had occupied Vitebsk at the very first days of July.
In a couple of weeks more than half of population was destroyed.
Her husband’s parents were killed and burnt.
Before mother’s death she recalled: only miracle saved them from Getto.
They run from fascists: on foot, by passing cars and by railroad.
One day they reached Chkalov.
Here in some days she got a piece of news from her husband “Alive. Works in Kolima Camp. Reached Magadan, the most distant place.
A bond! A hope appeared.
1945… Great Victory over Germans.
The children were sent to the pioneer camp. There the pioneer head had taken the pioneer tie from Leonid.
Decades will pass, but that day will never vanish from Leonid’s sight.

Rosy could not get tickets.
Only some decades later it became to know that one of the biggest ships was blown up.
God again had shown his good will to Rosy and her son.
State authority arrived to decision to change embarkation of ships to Port Vanino.
At last they got tickets.
But all of a sudden the heavy gale came.
It seemed the end. The meeting about what she had been dreaming for ten years was by their side.
At last, Magadan, the capital of Kolyma, showed up.
Fortunately they reached the place of destination.
